JaxNet: Scalable Blockchain Network
Today's world is organized based on merit and value. A single global currency
that's decentralized is needed for a global economy. Bitcoin is a partial
solution to this need, however it suffers from scalability problems which
prevent it from being mass-adopted. Also, the deflationary nature of bitcoin
motivates people to hoard and speculate on them instead of using them for day
to day transactions. We propose a scalable, decentralized cryptocurrency that
is based on Proof of Work. The solution involves having parallel chains in a
closed network using a mechanism which rewards miners proportional to their
effort in maintaining the network. The proposed design introduces a novel
approach for solving scalability problem in blockchain network based on merged
mining.Comment: 55 pages. 10 figure
Use of digital video communication platform (zoom) by British Indian nurses to upskill Indian nurses for managing COVID-19 patients
COVID-19 outbreak, a severe respiratory infection, was an international public health emergency. Like many other countries, the crisis shattered most states of India, and Indian healthcare professionals lacked skills, knowledge, and resources for managing the scale and severity of the pandemic. The British Indian Nurses Association (BINA) took the initiative of offering support to Indian Nurses to address this massive skills and knowledge gap issue and asked for volunteers. Around 65 British Indian Nurses (clinical nurses, educators and researchers working across the UK) showed interest. These Indian origin UK nurses felt the moral and social obligation to volunteer to share their expert knowledge to provide cross-cultural digital educational support to the Indian nursing workforce (Ford, 2021). The authors volunteered to become the programme development team and co-ordination team and led to the successful completion of the project

RT-2 Detection of Quasi-Periodic Pulsations in the 2009 July 5 Solar Hard X-ray Flare
We present the results of an analysis of hard X-ray observations of the C2.7
solar flare detected by the RT-2 Experiment onboard the Coronas - Photon
satellite. We detect hard X-ray pulsations at periods of ~12 s and ~15 s. We
find a marginal evidence for a decrease in period with time. We have augmented
these results using the publicly available data from the RHESSI satellite. We
present a spectral analysis and measure the spectral parameters.Comment: 12 pages, 8 figures and 3 tables, accepted for publication in The

Characterization of Silane-Treated and Untreated Natural Fibers from Stem of Leucas Aspera
In recent years, natural fiber and its composites have attracted researchers due to environmental awareness. It is essential to identify new cellulose fibers for the potential polymer reinforcement. The current study deals with the investigation of natural cellulosic fibers extracted from the stem of Leucas aspera plants. The obtained fibers were treated with silane for effective use in composite applications. The physical, chemical, crystallinity, thermal stability, and morphological characteristics were analyzed for both untreated and silane-treated Leucas aspera fibers using chemical analysis, X-Ray diffraction test, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and SEM images. The results showed that silane treatment removed excess lignin, wax and hemicellulose contents from Leucas aspera fibers and helped to increase its bonding characteristics with the matrix in composite applications leading to enhanced results compared to the untreated samples. There was a 2.1 times increase in crystalline index and better thermal stability with a char residue of 39%. To prove the applications' suitability, epoxy composites and friction composites in the form of brake pads were developed and analyzed for their mechanical performance as per ASTM and standard industrial practice. Increase in ultimate tensile strength was 56 MPa for silane-treated Leucas aspera fiber based epoxy composites while it was 43 MPa compared to its untreated samples. In brake pads, hardness was 93 for silane-treated LA fiber-based brake pads and 87 for the untreated
